How the Command Box in Microsoft Teams Benefits You
When working in Microsoft Teams, there is a handy feature called the command box. It is located at the top of the screen anytime you are working in Teams. You can access it by clicking into it at the top of the screen, or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + E in Teams. Here are some benefits of the command box.
Search Tool
The command box acts as a search engine for all things Microsoft. You can search for a term, such as marketing, and it will bring up anything using that keyword in Teams or any other Microsoft product.
This is extremely helpful for finding files in multiple different programs within Microsoft. It also will bring up any messages in Teams that incorporate that keyword. Within your messages, you can use filters, such as people or files, to help narrow down your search results.
Slash Commands
The command box also acts as a way to perform tasks without breaking your stride. Go into the command box and type a / followed by whatever task you are looking to complete. The keyboard shortcut to access the slash commands is Ctrl + /.
Examples include opening a chat, calling someone, or accessing your files. You can also use the slash commands to access the list of keyboard shortcuts. A third option for the slash commands is setting your status. If you put in the slash, options like busy, do not disturb, and available will pop up. You can click on them to set your status.
These two abilities make the command box in Microsoft Teams extremely useful. They allow you to quickly access anything Microsoft related you may need all in one program.
